The A.F. Dobler Hose & Ladder Co. is a strictly volunteer organization dedicated to serving the Borough of Girard and surrounding communities. Located in Girard Borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania, we provide fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and respond to a wide range of emergency incidents.

In addition to serving the Borough of Girard, we respond to a large portion of Girard Township and provide mutual aid to neighboring communities when requested. Our members are trained to handle a broad spectrum of emergencies, including fires, vehicle accidents, emergency medical calls, technical rescue situations, and other incidents requiring rapid response.

Our mission is to protect life and property through dedicated service, ongoing training, and commitment to the safety of our community.

Erie County Department of Public Safety will be conducting a Quarterly Municipal Disaster/Storm Siren Test for Erie County on:
Wednesday, October 15th, 2025
12:00 City of Corry, Columbus, Elgin Beaver Dam
12:15 Union City
12:30 West County, Edinboro and McKean
12:45 Mill Village and Waterford
13:00 East County
This test is done four times a year to ensure that in the event of weather related emergency the siren operates properly.
The difference between the fire siren and the weather siren is the following:
Fire Siren: Fire siren goes off in the event the fire company is dispatched for a fire, motor vehicle accident or rescue situation. It cycles up and down for a total of three short bursts.
Storm Siren: Storm siren goes off in the event of severe weather to notify the general public to seek immediate shelter and tune into NOAA weather radio or other media sources for information. The siren is activated and will sound for a steady 3-minute cycle

Trick or Treat hours for Girard will be 6pm-8pm. Crews will be out in the fire trucks patroling the Girard Boro Streets. Hope everyone has a safe Halloween!!

Dear Girard Borough and Township Neighbors,
Our 2025 Fund Drive is underway, and we’re asking for your continued support.
While the recently enacted fire tax provides much-needed funding, state regulations limit usage strictly to the purchase of supplies and equipment. These funds cannot be used for operating expenses such as our mortgage, insurance, utilities, fuel, ambulance services, training, or building maintenance.
We will be using fire tax revenue to help fund the purchase of a new custom-built Sutphen Rescue Pumper fire truck. This 1,000-gallon truck—costing $1,231,903.93—will carry hydraulic and power tools, ropes, a Stokes basket, ladders, and EMS supplies. It will also include multiple safety features including rollover protection and safety cameras, and is expected to arrive in approximately two years.
Our department is staffed entirely by dedicated, highly trained volunteers who have responded to an average of more than three emergency calls per day over the past year. We do this because we care deeply about our community, your families, and your property.
We urgently need more volunteers—both Fire/EMS personnel and administrative support members. If you're willing to train as a firefighter or EMT, or if you can assist behind the scenes with paperwork, fundraising, or logistics, we welcome you. Your time and talent could make a real impact.
